Something eventful happened in Northbrook today. When I left the house around 4, I saw loads of police/fire squad cars, military vehicles, and news trucks near a major intersection a block away from my house. Read the article for more information.

I came across a knitting-circle-of-sorts at Starbucks tonight. There must have been 35 women, all making blankets that were going to be donated.

Happy 2nd night of Hannukah!

20 dec 2011

Today, my mom, Allie, and I went into the city. We had lunch at The Walnut Room, a famous Chicago restaurant that is in the middle of the State St. Macy’s (originally Marshall Field’s). None of us had ever been to The Walnut Room and we had a great time. This is where the famous Christmas tree is on display. It was gorgeous!!

Tonight was MIDNIGHT BREAKFAST (which occurred at 10PM) at the Chabad on campus. It’s an event where there is lots of breakfast-y food (lox, bagels, pancakes, etc) as well as Hannukah favorites (latkes, jelly-filled donuts). I got this SUPER AWESOME Hannukah menorah, which I affectionately refer to as my Advent Calendar. For each night of Hannukah, you pop up the candle, and there is a piece of Hannukah chocolate gelt (a chocolate coin) under each candle!!!!
